Philippians 2:5
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Apostle Paul tells the Philippians that they need to be different from the rest of the world from where they got converted. He tells them that they have to begin by how they relate with others. He admonished them that they should always consider others better than themselves. He challenges them to prioritize the needs of others before their individual needs.
He then crowns this piece of advice by telling them that this is exactly how Jesus was. They should be glad and aim at being like Jesus. Our salvation was made possible because this is what Jesus did. Jesus prioritized our needs over how own. Jesus left glory in heaven in order to come to save us in our poor situation.
Then Apostle Paul gives them the secret. He tells them it’s all in the mindset. Mindset is a set of convictions. Mindset is a set of beliefs. Mindset influences everything. Mindset is a predetermined approach to everything. Mindset is like a formula that you apply to any equation.
Mindset is how you understand and interpret everything. If you have a good mindset, you will survive the good and the bad because you interpret them the same way. Time is wasted and opportunity is lost if we delay action or make wrong decisions because we misinterpreted a situation. A good mindset helps us interpret and address situations.
God knows. This is a mindset that trusts God in everything. Bad things happen – God knows. Good things happen – God knows. Whatever happens – God knows. That becomes how everything is interpreted.
Other mindsets include – it shall be well. Another one is – it is darkest before dawn. Another one is – hang in there. Another one is – never ever give up. Another mindset is – in this world you never know. Another one is – what you do for others you do for yourself and it will happen to you soon.
Karma is a mindset. Christians don’t believe in karma which is an orient religious belief, but it is a mindset. We have a detailed article about karma on this website. Just search for karma in our search button or click the following link. FYI Karma Wish And Declaration Is Neither Biblical Nor Christian
The golden rule is a mindset. Do to others what you would want them to do to you. Another mindset is that – I did not fail, I just learned how it doesn’t work. Another mindset is that the glass is either half full or half empty. Another mindset is that – I will do my best and God will do the rest.
Mindset may look like a slogan or a quote one keeps referring to, but it is more than that. A mindset is based on a solid belief and summarised in that simple quote. A mindset is a deep detailed understanding and not just a quote. When someone says God knows, they have read the Bible about God, they have experienced God’s goodness and He has never failed them. Then they conclude and tell us from that understanding and experience that whatever happens – God knows. There God knows is not a slogan or great quote, but a deep-seated belief that cannot be shaken easily under all circumstances.
Our attitude in life depends on our mindset. Many communities fail by having a mindset of witchcraft. If I do well I will be bewitched. I am failing because someone bewitched me. That is a mindset of backwardness. Another terrible mindset is that of being paranoid. Believing that everything revolves around you negatively. That every time people whisper they are speaking negatively about you. That every comment is about you.
The right mindset will favor leadership and guide to success. Paul tells the church that as you relate with each other, have the mindset of Jesus in your relationships.
What is your relationship mindset? Could it be the reason why your relationships are the way they are? What is your money mindset? What is your health mindset? What is your life’s mindset? You are where you are because of how your mindset responds to God and other realities. Mindset is everything.
Dear God, revamp my mindset. Give me the best mindset for everything in life. In my relationships give me the mindset of Jesus, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
