John 5:25
Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.John 5:28-29
(28) “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice (29) and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.
Can the dead hear? When a person dies the senses which include the ability to listen also die. Yet the Bible says that the dead who will hear the voice of Jesus will be lucky to resurrect and have eternal life. The dead who will hear Him are forever lucky!
The dead can’t hear us. When mourning our loved ones they do not respond to our cries of anguish. They cannot hear anything from us. The closest relative or friend may cry and speak words to the dead person but they do not respond at all anyway. Therefore, the dead do not listen to anyone and everyone, the dead can only hear the voice of Jesus. The dead who will hear Him are forever lucky!
Not all the dead will hear the voice of Jesus. The Bible says that those who will hear, implying that there are those who will not hear Him. Those who will hear Him will resurrect never to die again. The dead who will hear Him are forever lucky!
The Bible teaches that there will be a resurrection. Dead people coming out of graves. Dead people are not in paradise or promoted to glory or somewhere in heaven dancing with angels. Dead people are in their graves waiting for resurrection. Resurrection means they will come back to life and rise up physically from their graves. Our hope at the time of death is that there will be a resurrection.
Revelation 20:5-6
(5) (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. (6) Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
The book of Revelation teaches about two resurrections. The first resurrection is for the saints. The saints or the righteous will be resurrected and then taken to heaven to begin eternal life. The second resurrection is for the wicked or the sinners. The wicked will be resurrected so that they can face hellfires (also known as the second death). That means until resurrection day, saints are not in heaven and wicked people are not in hell. All the dead are waiting for resurrection so that they can face their fate!
Daniel 12:2
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
The fate of everyone takes effect on the resurrection day and not on the day one dies. For now all the dead, both the good and bad are sleeping in the dust of the earth (aka graves). They are not in heaven or hell but in their graves. The Bible says they will awake (aka resurrect). How will they awake? They will hear the voice of Jesus and resurrect.
The dead who hear the voice of Jesus will be in the first resurrection of the saints. The dead who do not hear the voice of Jesus will be raised from the dead in the second resurrection of the wicked who will be thrown in hell fires. The dead who will hear Him are forever lucky!
John 11:43-44
(43) When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” (44) The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”Mark 5:41-42
(41) He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). (42) Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.Luke 7:14-15
(14) Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” (15) The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. they were completely astonished.
There is evidence in scripture that all the dead that Jesus raised heard His voice. Jesus called them and they came back to life. The dead who will hear Him are forever lucky!
Our prayer today is that we will hear the voice of God today and accept salvation while we are still alive, so that if we die, we will still hear His voice ushering us into eternal life, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
