Exodus 7:2 – You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.
Exodus 7:3 – But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt,
Exodus 7:4 – he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.
Exodus 7:5 – And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”
The journey to success includes several failures. It’s our wish that the journey to success has success all the way and that to failure has failure all the way. The truth is that the journey to success includes failures along the way.
The failures on the way to success can be given beautiful names such as challenges. Unfortunately when we experience them, we suffer because they appear as failures. We feel discouraged for we interpret them as failures. If they were mere challenges, we shouldn’t get so hurt. Therefore let’s give them the name that truly represents them – failures. The journey to success includes several failures.
They are failures but we should not stop at failure we should keep going towards the goal and we will succeed. When a child is learning to walk, they fall and rise. The falling is not a challenge, it is falling. Sometimes they get hurt. A nicer name doesn’t change it from falling and hurting. However our business is to encourage them to keep trying until they can walk. The journey to success includes several failures.
In our Bible passage today, God sends Moses and Aaron to go tell Pharaoh that he should release Israelites who were his slaves. God wants to set Israel free from Egyptian bondage under Pharaoh. God sends Moses and Aaron to initiate the process. This is God’s mission and it must succeed. Yet the journey to success is replete with failures.
In our Bible passage today, God tells Moses and Aaron that in the mission He is sending them there will be failures. They will deliver God’s message to Pharaoh but they will not succeed in convincing. They will fail to convince Pharaoh. The journey to success includes several failures.
God tells them that He will send signs, which we understand to be the ten plagues of Egypt. Nine of the plagues will not convince Pharaoh. Even with nine supernatural plagues they will fail to convince Pharaoh. The journey to success includes several failures.
Then God tells them that eventually after all the failures, they will succeed in getting permission to March out of Egypt. The nine plagues will end in nine failures. The tenth plague will bring about success and God’s people will march out. The journey to success includes several failures.
The failures along the way to success should not discourage us. The failures along the way to success should not cause us to give up. The failures along the way to success shouldn’t cause us to doubt God’s commitment to delivering success to us. We will fail but God is good because eventually we will succeed. The journey to success includes several failures.
May God grant us the grace to face failures along the way to success. Every time we fall May we rise. Every time it doesn’t work we should try again. Giving up shouldn’t be an option in our journey to excellence.
The journey to the ultimate success of attaining eternal life is full of failures. We fail spiritually. We disappoint God. We fall below divine expectations. But if we do not give up and stay the course looking unto Jesus, we shall be empowered to overcome our weaknesses. We shall be saved into eternity. The journey to success includes several failures.
Dear God grant us the requisite resilience in this journey to success. May success be our portion. In Jesus’s name, Amen!

“Giving up shouldn’t be an option in our journey to excellence.”
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it someday for a crown.
Someday for a crown…
Amen and amen.!
Amen
It was not meant to be easy, and we have no reason of giving up, but always looking forward to the ultimate victory.
Amen!
