Allocated Time But Not By Human Power

Daniel 8:25 (NIV) – He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.

Daniel eight has the vision of when Medo-Persians were a great unstoppable nation that terrified the world. Then the vision proceeds to show how Greece arose led by Alexandar the great and defeated Medo-Persia. Alexandar also seemed unstoppable, but suddenly he too came to an end.

After Alexandar the great, came generals who ruled the divided kingdoms of Greece.  One of the kingdoms became the great Rome. Rome grew in unstoppable ways too. Rome grew from pagan Rome to Religious Rome led by Popes. Under Rome Jesus was born and crucified. Under Rome Apostles died and Christian’s suffered persecution.

Under the Religious Rome, major changes were done that corrupted scripture. Rome acted defiantly against what is in scripture. Our text today tells us, it was against Jesus the Prince of Princes.

Daniel 8:25 (NIV) – He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.

God promises Daniel that there is allocated time for each kingdom. They can only be terrifying for some time. The unstoppable Medo-Persians had their allocated time and afterwards they were destroyed. Greece under Alexandar the great had their allocated time. Even the terrifying Rome had an allocated time.

God tells Daniel through the interpreting Angel, that when Rome’s allocated time has run out, the impossible will happen, it will be removed, but not by human power. You may have human power but you can’t do anything to stop Rome until its allocated power runs out and a power greater than you evicts them.

Daniel chapter eight is a reminder that there is allocated time even for believers. Everything and everyone operates on divinely given time. After that time, changes take place, even against our wish, but not by human power.

Daniel 8:14 (NIV) – He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.”

Even the cleansing of the Sanctuary is allocated time, but not by human power. The 2,300 prophecy began around 457BC and ended around 1844AD. Allocated time. We are living post 1844AD and we too are on allocated time, but not by human power.

Acts 17:26 (NIV) – From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

God allocated each and everyone of us a time and place in history. We are not here accidentally. We are living on borrowed time. It’s running out. Nothing can change this fact.

Do you love someone? You have them for an allocated period of time. Use this time knowing it’s running out. Use your time with others well, you don’t have much time remaining. We are on allocated time.

Do you have enemies? Bothering you? Torturing you? They are on allocated time. The most terrifying of people and governments were removed when their allocated time ran out. Even organizations and people and even governments that trouble us today, won’t last long, they are all on allocated time, they will be removed eventually, but not by human power.

Psalms 90:12 (NIV) – Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Knowing that we are on allocated time that is running out, will help us relate wisely, prioritize wisely and make good choices. Some things are worth ignoring. Some are not worth our energy, in this allocated time that is running out. May this revelation make us wiser by God’s grace, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
