Excellent Projects Must Have Secrecy

2 Kings 4:4
Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”

A widow sought help from Elisha since a certain man wanted to take her sons and make them slaves. The man claimed that the widow’s late husband owed him money. The widow was afraid of losing her sons. She came to Elisha for help.

Elisha told the woman to get as many containers as possible so that she can pour in the oil. The prophet also told her that after getting the containers, she should go into her house, shut the door and together with her sons, fill the containers with oil. This operation was to remain strictly between the widow and her sons. No one else was invited. It was to be done in secret.

No one was to see and no one was to know. God was going to perform a miracle and it wasn’t to be witnessed by anyone else except the concerned. God through the prophet wanted it secret. Excellent projects must have secrecy!

No one was to know how the oil multiplied. They were to have so much oil and then start selling to get enough money to pay off the debts. It was to be done in secrecy. When God wanted to create Eve, He put Adam to sleep. Adam was to see nothing and know nothing about the creation of Eve. Excellent projects must have secrecy!

Matthew 26:36-39
(36) Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” (37) He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. (38)Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
(39) Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”

When Jesus went to Gethsemane to pray before He was arrested, He went with His disciples only for privacy. Even with His disciples, He separated them into the inner circle team. Even with that inner circle team, He moved further ahead and fell down in prayer. Jesus prayed in secrecy. Excellent projects must have secrecy!

Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayers to God must also be done in secrecy. Only God should know that you prayed. Only God should hear what you prayed for. Excellent projects must have secrecy!

Work hard quietly and let your success be your noise. It is a weakness if we go around narrating to everyone what we are doing. Let the results and conclusion of this secrecy be the noise that attends to your life. Excellent projects have secrecy!

What are you up to in your health? What are you up to in your finances? What are you up to academically? What are you earnestly praying about? Whatever it is, keep it secret and focus on it. Excellent projects have secrecy. Teach me secrecy O Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
