John 6:21 – Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
This could be one of those hidden in plain sight miracles. There is a miracle right here but we hardly notice it particularly if we read in a hurry. A miracle is that which happens out of the ordinary and defies rules in nature that govern space and time.
Disciples were in the lake struggling with rowing the boat to get across. Then Jesus appears and they panic thinking it’s a ghost. After Jesus introduces Himself they allow Him into the boat.
After Jesus gets into the boat, a miracle happens. The Bible tells us in our text today that when Jesus got into the boat, IMMEDIATELY they reached the shore where they were going to.
IMMEDIATELY, is the miracle. They didn’t continue rowing the boat, they just got to the shore. It didn’t take one more minute, they found themselves at the shore. Jesus came in and a miracle happened, they found themselves at the shore in no time.
When Jesus is allowed into any life, the action and impact is IMMEDIATELY. Jesus does not change us later, He changes us on the spot. That is how long it takes Jesus to make a difference.
The woman caught in the act of adultery was forgiven on spot without interrogation and sessions of observation if she had changed. The thief on the cross was assured eternal life right there on the spot without being asked to give assurance that he won’t steal again. That is how long it takes Jesus to make a difference.
When the prodigal son returned home, he was forgiven immediately. He wasn’t even allowed to finish his speech of remorsefulness. That is how long it takes Jesus to make a difference.
If you accept Jesus in your life today and now, the difference He will make in your life is today and now. Today and now, you will be guaranteed eternal life. Today and now, God takes over your life and creates a hedge of protection.
Daniel 9:21 – while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice.
Daniel 9:23 – As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision:
While Daniel was still praying the answer to the prayer arrived. As soon as Daniel started praying, the Angel was sent to him with a response to a prayer he hadn’t completed. Daniel didn’t even complete the prayer. God acted immediately.
God may choose to delay a response for our own good, yet in that delay, He has acted immediately and the answer is guaranteed. Naaman was healed, waiting for him to bathe seven times. Healing was granted immediately but the process was to bathe seven times. He wasn’t bathing seven times and see whether he gets well, no! Healing had been guaranteed immediately he requested.
A blind man asked to see. Jesus made saliva mixed with soil and applied in his eyes, then told him to go wash his eyes in the pool of Siloam. The vision was guaranteed and washing in the pool of Siloam was just the process. Other blind men going to wash in that pool would not see because they hadn’t been given guarantee of vision. Only this particular blind man was guaranteed vision. As he went to the pool, he went with vision granted immediately awaiting the washing process.
God has immediately granted your request for a spouse, now follow the process of being available, dating, courting, engaging, etc. God has immediately granted the job request, now go for interviews and do application. Some times God puts a process between what He has granted and when we get it.
God has immediately granted healing you prayed for, now take medication and bed rest. When God puts a process in between, it is for our own good. Other times He doesn’t put a process in between and we instantly get what we prayed for. God knows what is best for us!
Daniel 10:12 – Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
Daniel 10:13 – But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.
An answer for Daniel’s prayer was given immediately but the devil represented figuratively by the king of Persia, caused a delay of 21 days. Answers to prayer May delay because of the Great Controversy. Job suffered because of the Great Controversy. Jesus also known as Michael the Chief Prince intervened and Daniel got his answers.
Answers to our prayers are given immediately. Sometimes what seems like a delay is a process good for our faith. Sometimes what seems like a delay is a result of the Great Controversy and it requires us to pray earnestly. Whichever way, what God granted us immediately we prayed will still get to us and can’t be stopped.
Delay is not denial. Jesus delayed raising Lazarus from the dead, but He still raised him. How long does it take Jesus to make a difference? The answer under all circumstances is still – IMMEDIATELY.
When disciples allowed Jesus into the boat, IMMEDIATELY, they got to the shore. May this same Jesus do something for you and me IMMEDIATELY today as we allow Him now into our lives. In Jesus’s name, Amen!
