This Is Compulsory From Everyone To Everyone!

1 Peter 5:5 – In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility lltoward one another, because,

“God opposes the proud

but shows favor to the humble.”

The younger should accept to be led by the older. The younger should accept guidance from Elders. That means the younger should submit to the elders.

Elders is not just anyone, but responsible older people. It’s not just anyone who should guide us or lead us. The leader or the one offering guidance must have the right reputation and be responsible so as not to mislead those who are young.

The Bible in our passage today, goes on to tell us that everyone must be clothed in humility. It’s not just cosmetic humility, but humility that is felt by others. You cannot be humble without expressing it to someone or some being!

You cannot be humble for the sake of being humble. You can only be humble towards someone or some being. Humility towards one another is what God expects from us.

The younger should be humble when dealing with the older. At the same time the older should be humble while dealing with the younger. Humility towards anyone and everyone from anyone and everyone is the divine standard.

Humility is a modest or low view of one’s own self importance. You are only humble if you genuinely accommodate the reality that others are better than you. There is no humility when you feel proud and better than those you deal with.

Philippians 2:3-4. – Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

You are not humble unless you consider others better than yourself. Not in the sense of being intimidated and unable to function, but in the sense of respecting them and being proud of them. Better than you to the extent that you gladly accommodate and tolerate them.

Unless we adopt humility as a way of life, God will become our enemy and will oppose everything we do. The Bible tells us today that God opposes the proud. Could it be pride that has cost you this much? Because, some struggles we go through could be God opposing us!

God shows favors to the humble. Some people less qualified than us seem to be doing well. We can give many possible reasons but God favoring the humble could be the hidden secret.

Be humble to avoid divinely instigated disasters. Be humble to attract divine favors. Be humble when dealing with everyone, in Jesus’s, Amen!
