What Is The Need?

Genesis 9:1 (NIV) – Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.

After the flood destroyed the human and animal population, what was lacking in the world? What was the top priority need? What was most urgent that should be attended to? Wasn’t it having more people and filling the earth?

Genesis 9:1 (NIV) – Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.

God blesses Noah in line with the need. The need was filling the earth, and God blesses Noah to fill the earth. The flood had depopulated the world. The need was to repopulate the world. God blessed Noah according to the need!

Immediately after creation the world had no people except for Adam and Eve. The need was for people to increase and occupy the world. Guess what blessings God gave Adam and Eve?

Genesis 1:28 (NIV) – God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. ”

God blessed them. It was a blessing. God aligned His blessings with the prevailing need. If the need is repopulating the world, God blesses us with ability to repopulate the world.

Adam, Eve, Noah and their families were blessed in line with prevailing needs in their environment. We are blessed to address needs. God puts blessings in place to respond to needs.

They were blessed with fertility to have more children. They were blessed with ability to provide for many children. They were blessed with ability to manage large families. There was a need and they were blessed with ability to address the need.

When there were no vehicles or abilities to travel as we have, God blessed people with abilities to walk far and wide. When there were no public address systems, God blessed people with communication skills fit for that time. Our blessings address needs.

You are blessed with education to address a need. You are wealthy to address a need. You have reconciliatory skills to address a need. You are blessed with talents and abilities to address a need. What is the need?

Adam had no threat of wild animals killing them and stopping repopulation. Noah had a threat of wild animals killing them. Therefore, God addressed this need.

Genesis 9:2 (NIV) – The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.

I will bless you with ability to be feared by wild animals. That blessing of being feared addresses a need. The animals will not harm you and therefore your population will increase. If the animals didn’t fear them, the animals would constantly attack and destroy all of them. They were blessed to be feared.

Why are you feared? What is the need? Why are you loved? What is the need? Our being loved and being feared addresses a need. What is the need?

Why are you in government? Why do you have power? Why are you influential? What need is God trying to address through you?

Exodus 12:36 (NIV) – The LORD had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.

God made Egyptians to love Israelites. This love made them give every expensive thing to Israelites. The expensive things fulfilled two purposes. First it paid for the slavery years. Secondly, these expensive stuff would be used to build the temple in the wilderness. The love Egyptians suddenly had for Israelites, addressed a need.

Why are you loved by many people? What is the need? It can’t be a selfish need. It must be a need to address a problem around. You are not loved and favored for nothing. Therefore address the need.

Genesis 9:5-7 (NIV) – 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being. 6 “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”

Strict rules and curses against shedding blood were related to the need to multiply and fill the earth. God put rules and curses in place to address the threat to the need. Be careful if you threaten the need, God will attack you swiftly.

What if you attack evangelism and make it difficult, yet it’s the need? Won’t God curse and harm you? Be sensitive and cared about what the need is. What is the need?

Business only thrives if it addresses the need. You grow rich quickly if you address the need. A beautiful business that addresses no need, will die.

The best research addresses a need. What is the need? Your education should address a need. Your investment should address a need. Your mission strategy should address a need. Your relating and parenting styles should address a need. What is the need?

Dear God open our eyes to the need. Show us the need. Empower us to address the need. Save us from interfering with the need. Bless us according to the need. In Jesus name, Amen!
